Festive season should be well... festive! This year, I'm chronicling some food that graced our table and eventually our tummies! This Christmas is different because, for us, it's a quiet one. We decided to stay in London and guess what? We loved it! No hustles and bustles and we truly did have an ample time to rest and relax. If you're like me, you've probably watched so many health related videos like WHAT THE HEALTH, COWSPIRACY, FORK OVER KNIVES, etc. Ever since, I've been mindful of all the things I'm putting inside my body. To me, it is a process and to each their own. The world is already full of judgemental people and the best we can do is to look into ourselves and no one else. One of the quotes that resonated on me is this:
“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” ― Hippocrates
And so I call these words to my mind and add moderation on all our festive menus. This is not to say we've gone full plant based (I guess we're not there yet!) but we made it a point we've put everything in good measure. All dishes are lovingly homemade and whilst it time consuming, we take comfort over the fact that we know the ingredients we put in it and made sure we savour them as long as we could.
1. No Bake Cheesecake.
2. Pork Belly with Wild Rice.
3. Gammon with Maple and Pineapple Glazing. This takes 3 hours to slow cook but it's WORTH it!
4. Asparagus in a Blanket.
5. Chicken Liver Paprika with toasted potatoes. I know, not for the faint hearted, eh?
6. Christmas Hot Chocolate (with Almond Milk).
