22ND: HOW TO SPEND CHRISTMAS ABROAD?

Winter 2015. I took this shot Christmas of 2015. You see, I have packed my bags and decided to call London my home months prior and unlike my situation as I type this post, things before were so different. I was away from my family that time but I still did enjoy a company of friends. I remember we did our Europe trip that year and it was awesome. However, I'd be lying if I tell you that I felt happy and contented. When you are away from your family, a part of you is yearning to come home to spend this glorious time of the year with your nearest and dearest.

Fast forward 2018, I will pack my luggage after this write-up as I'll be off to Vienna then to Hungary for Christmas. I'll be spending it with Gab and his family. Having spent most of my 20's being single, I always - and I mean always - remember what it feels like on the other side. Don't get me wrong, being surrounded by people and special someone is not 100% bliss, but if you're like me, there was a point in my life that I really like to have somebody to come home to. If you are reading this post and you know how what I'm talking about, this one's for you.

1. What's my favourite food? I've stumbled upon this article that talks about the correlation of food and depression. I think it's true. On top of that, answer that question freely. Don't think about diet just this once because you know what they say? People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between New Year and Christmas. Genius, eh? I didn't come up with that sh*plendid idea. Somebody did. Point is: Go eat that Ben & Jerry's!

2. What do I really want to do? But whatever it is, do not - I repeat - do NOT binge watch tear jerker  movies on Netflix, please. Watch Home Alone, The Grinch, etc. Or shop, note that all good sense are lifted on this emergency situation. This is what FUN funds are for. So yeah, anything that makes you happy.

3. What music sounds cool RN? I will blast Thank you, Next by Queen Ari. You are welcome.

4. Did someone say pamper all-day routine? Bring out all the LUSH goodies, light up the candles, have some water and rose tea by the side, fill out your bath with epsom salt and don't forget the face mask. Your nails need some TLC and yes darling, burgundy looks grand this season.

5. This too will pass. If after doing all of the above you still feel crap, please take comfort on the fact that Christmas and new year celebrations - whilst nice and festive - are temporary. In no time, we'll be preparing ourselves to work next January (boy, I sound like a scrooge now) and you know what? You'll be fine and stronger by then.

Bonus: Plan 2019 ahead! Get that gym membership and buy some fancy gym shark leggings. Don't mind what those pessimists say. Go bullet journalling, or if you are a lazy bum like me, buy some nice 2019 planners. Get excited for next year's trip and scour those airlines and update your Pinterest pin boards. Life is good. -CMK
