Feel free to read Part 1 of 2 of our healthy hacks. It's mind blowing that there's only two months left for 2019 and then a new decade is upon us! There are so many things to be thankful for and though life is not without challenges, if we pause and take it all in for a while, we will all agree that living is a blessing in itself. On our quest of having a healthy body, let's not forget to nurture our mental well being as well. I realised that having a good outlook in life does not happen by default, sometimes you have to make conscious choices on where you'll put your energy into. If you're reading this, I hope that life treats you well. Now, on to the healthy hacks...
Coffee
It's ironic that I'm writing this as a hack when early this morning I was talking to myself (in my head, of course) deciding on whether it's a good time to give up coffee for a period. The prospect of mornings without coffee surely doesn't still well with me but who knows? Honestly, I feel that I'm abusing this hack. Lately, I've been drinking 2-3 cups of coffee which to some might be okay but I feel that my body needs to take a detox from caffeine. Generally, coffee will get me through the morning and currently, I'm thinking of a good alternative (sad face).
YouTube
This is a gold mine of information about healthy hacks. You probably know that I am doing intermittent fasting since March of this year and each time I want to quit, I put on some interesting videos (steer clear of meal preps when you're fasting please) about how our body is designed to not eat 24/7. It's a struggle at times but I'm definitely feeling and may I add... sleeping better when I do IF.
Peanut Butter
Blackberries and crunchy peanut butter is such a great combination. I never feel deprived when I have those for dessert. All along, my mommy is right. I should eat dessert (if having) after my main meals. She told me that when I was eight! Another testament that moms are always right. Remember to go easy on the PB though, if you're not careful, it's easy to shove in dollop upon dollop of PB goodness! Point is: if you're craving for desserts - berries and PB is always a good idea. Heads up to be picky and read the labels when buying PB's. I am an avid fan of mani-life. They only have two ingredients: Hi-Oleic Peanuts 99.1%, Sea Salt 0.9%.
Exercise
I don't need to harp on this because surely we all know how moving our bodies is right for us. I'd say a new learning for me is it's a great outlet too! Instead of just rolling to and fro my bed (which is also a good idea, esp. during winter) - exercising clears my headspace. When you exercise, you'll get healthy and you use your time wisely (keeping you pre-occupied with worthwhile things). What's not to love? If you're still feeling meh, try to browse some YouTube videos to keep you going.
I hope you've learned a thing or two. Cheers to a healthy lifestyle! -CMK
